Here Are 3 Systems You Need to Set Up Before the School Year Starts!

Back-to-school season is upon us, and with it comes the chaos of getting the kids ready and out the door each morning. Between the bedrooms, kitchen, and mudroom, there’s plenty to organize to ensure a smooth start to the school year. Here are three essential systems to set up before the first day rolls around!

And if you need some extra help, don’t forget to follow @b.beautifullyorganized for more back-to-school organization tips and inspo!

1. The Drop Zone

A drop zone can be as simple or as detailed as you want, but it’s crucial to have a dedicated spot where backpacks, school books, jackets, and shoes go. This small area will save you loads of stress in the mornings (or at least make it a little easier 😉) when you’re not frantically searching for a missing shoe! Trust me, this one’s a lifesaver—speaking from experience! 😆

2. The Lunch Station

Set up a specific area in your kitchen for lunchboxes, refillable water bottles, and lunch-packing essentials. Having everything in one place will streamline the morning rush and might even inspire your kids to pack their own lunches. Take it a step further by printing out a lunch-packing list with options for proteins, carbs, and snacks. This little system encourages independence and ensures they get a balanced meal!

3. The Car Bag

A car bag filled with frequently forgotten items can be a real lifesaver on busy mornings. Stock it with essentials like hair ties, a hairbrush, Colgate Wisps (because let’s face it, we’ve all had a kid forget to brush their teeth before leaving the house 🤦🏼‍♀️), extra socks for gym class, feminine products if you have older girls, quick breakfasts like granola bars, and school-friendly snacks. Basically, anything that would normally have you turning the car around—keep it in the bag!

What systems do you need help with in your home? If you’re local to the DFW area, my team and I would love to help your family get ready for back to school! Send me a DM for details.

And remember, a little organization now will go a long way in making the school year run smoothly! Stay tuned to @b.beautifullyorganized for more tips and tricks to keep your home beautifully organized all year long.
